Water tower disappears from the scenery. In 2015, the landmark that stood in the highest point of Lauttasaari for 56 years was demolished in 10 weeks. Strong steel jaws sunk into the concrete and determinedly crumbled the rim of the mushroom-shaped water tower. Once a landmark of Lauttasaari, Helsinki, the structure inevitably met its death piece by piece. The demolition was scheduled for autumn so that the rain would bind some of the concrete dust.
